The BBL leaders Guildford Heat snatched an 84-83 win over second-placed Sheffield Sharks at The Spectrum last night by outscoring the visitors 11-1 over the final minute and 42 seconds of the game.

The Sharks led throughout the first three quarters and scored the first four points of the final period to lead 73-58.

However, four points from Brian Dux and a three-pointer from Chad McKnight in a 9-0 run lifted the crowd and cut Sheffield's lead to six points. Then after the teams traded 4-0 spurts, the Sharks still led 82-73 with less than two minutes to play.

But Dux and Mike Martin hit three-pointers and Martin added a two while Sheffield's only response was a free throw from Jeff Bonds. Dan Wardrope then hit the winning three-pointer with nine seconds to play.

The Heat lead Sheffield by two points at the top of the BBL, with two games in hand.
