The odds on Dwain Chambers making a comeback at tomorrow's Norwich Union British Grand Prix narrowed to the point of formality yesterday as the International Association of Athletics Federations cleared him to run. The 28-year-old Londoner, who completed a two-year doping ban last October, needs the decision to be approved by UK Athletics before he can run a 100 metres that features the joint world record holder, Asafa Powell.

UKA confirmed last night that it had reached a "verbal agreement" with Chambers in relation to monies he owes. Chambers now needs to sign a formal agreement today in order to qualify for a return to televised domstic meetings.

Chambers' return has been held up by negotiations about repaying prize-money to the international and domestic governing bodies.
