England fans across the country took to pubs, the streets, and even bus roofs to celebrate the country’s first-ever penalty shoot-out win at a World Cup .
Gareth Southgate’s men were forced to extra time in Moscow following a stoppage time equaliser by opponents Colombia, after Harry Kane had put them ahead with a penalty in the 57th minute.
But once again supporters were put through the ringer, with Jordan Henderson ’s saved penalty putting England on the brink of elimination.
But two consecutive spot kick failures by Colombia gave Tottenham’s Eric Dier the chance to put his country through to the quarter-finals of a World Cup for the first time since 2006.
His effort snuck past the outstretched hand of David Ospina, the Colombia goalkeeper, setting England up for a showdown with Sweden on Saturday, and sparking scenes of jubilation across the country.
Supporters were quick to share the bedlam on social media.

Videos showed Shoreditch High Street in London brought to a standstill by fans chanting England's now unofficial anthem.
Fans were also seen celebrating on top of a London bus.
In bars and fan parks across the country.
In venues across the world.
And even in the ITV studio...
Kensington Palace tweeted England congratulations from the Duke of Cambridge, signing the tweet W.
The apparently personal message from the president of the Football Association said: "I couldn't be prouder of England – a victory in a penalty shootout! You have well and truly earned your place in the final eight of the #worldcup and you should know the whole country is right behind you for Saturday! Come on England! W."
Former England striker Gary Lineker tweeted, "F***me, I'm crying. Yes yes yes," before adding, "Football. There is nothing like it. Nothing."

Fellow former Three Lions star Alan Shearer simply said: "Yesssssssss boys yeeesss yes yes."
Inside the arena, the lowest number of England fans since the Tunisia game – officially numbering 2,225 – were drowned out by their rivals until after the game, when the players went over to take selfies and share the special moment with them.
England are now joint second favourites alongside France to win the tournament at just 4/1, according bookmakers Ladbrokes.
Brazil remain favourites at 11/4, while Harry Kane is odds-on at 1/4 to bring home the coveted Golden Boot.
