Bolton Wanderers: The Trotters have signed Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan until the end of the season. "Jack is a talented, hungry player who has a bright future," manager Owen Coyle said of the 18-year-old.

"He has an abundance of quality and will enhance our squad." Wilshere could go straight into the squad for today's trip to Liverpool, alongside defender Paul Robinson, who has had his loan move from West Bromwich made permanent.

Blues bid to sign Pavlyuchenko fails

Birmingham City: Tottenham yesterday rejected a bid from the Midlands club for striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. The two clubs have been discussing a deal for the Russian international over the last week as the 28-year-old seeks a move away from White Hart Lane having played just eight games this season. Alex McLeish's side may now return with an improved bid as Spurs look for an offer closer to the £14m they paid for the player in September 2008.

Black Cats chase striker Benjani

Sunderland: The club remain in talks with Manchester City over a move for forward Benjani Mwaruwari. Despite a flurry of starts under new manager Roberto Mancini, the Zimbabwe international's time at Eastlands has been mainly spent on the sidelines. "I spoke with him and he told me he had a possibility to go and play," Mancini said of Benjani, who has scored once in six games for City this season. "We have a lot of strikers but it is up to him to decide."
