January transfer window 2019: Premier League transfer round-up

Neil Warnock has labelled Liverpool a ‘disgrace’ after the club blindsided him by backtracking on a loan deal for Nathaniel Clyne.

Warnock, whose side were eliminated from the FA Cup by League One Gillingham and are fighting for their lives in the Premier League, was relying on the signing of Clyne to boost the Bluebirds’ survival bid.

Indeed, it was the veteran manager who had given the England full-back his debut while both were at Crystal Palace and Warnock was confident enough in assurances Liverpool and the player had given him over the deal that he recently went public with his interest.

The 70-year-old coach was then stunned to turn on his television and discover Clyne, who had also allegedly given his word that he would move to south Wales, posing with a Bournemouth shirt having moved to the Vitality Stadium.

“I’m disappointed with Nathaniel Clyne and Liverpool,” Warnock told talkSPORT.

“To see on TV he’s gone to Bournemouth when I’ve been promised he’s my player is for me a disgrace and a lack of class.

“Having known the player and given him his debut, I’m disappointed not just with the boy himself but with Liverpool as well for not ringing me.

“The reason I’m disappointed with Nathaniel and Liverpool is that I’ve out on three players because of that by waiting.

“I lost out on a couple of full backs and a striker, so I’m doubly disappointed.

“I probably should have been illegally tapping him him, but I’ve done everything right and then Bournemouth come in and I suppose Bournemouth paying £19million for (Dominic) Solanke probably whetted their appetite a little bit.”
