The odds on Ousmane Dembele making a surprise switch to Liverpool plummeted on Friday.

The Frenchman remains highly rated by those at the club but consistent disciplinary issues have become a concern prompting talk of a summer sale.

Any deal for the 22-year-old would be in excess of £100m and could pave the way for Neymar returning to the Spanish champions.

Jurgen Klopp has been reticent to dip into his budget this summer but could be tempted by the opportunity to grab Dembele at what could be a knockdown fee.

Philippe Coutinho won't be coming back to Anfield, however, with the player's agent revealing the Brazilian will stay at the Nou Camp.

The Reds are also one of three clubs said to be interested in signing Real Madrid's Dani Ceballos this summer, according to Marca.

The 22-year-old is available for around £45m this summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham also interested in the midfielder who has been compared to Xabi Alonso.

But Mauricio Pochettino has apparently taken matters into his own hands by ringing the Spanish U21 international personally to try and persuade him to choose north London over Merseyside, according to Sport Mediaset.

Marca also reports that the Reds are ready to make their move for Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo, who has a €50m release clause in his contract.

The 22-year-old, who recently won the Under-21 European Championships with Spain, would come in as an understudy to first-choice left-back Andy Robertson.

Alberto Moreno’s exit at the end of last season means the Scottish international is the only left back in the first-team squad.

They could even offer Divock Origi in part-exchange to try and sweeten any deal.

Liverpool are not out of the race to sign Bruno Fernandes with Portuguese newspaper A Bola claiming the player’s agent will meet with Reds officials again this week.

Manchester United are thought to be leading the race to sign the £53m midfielder but neither club have made an official bid for the player thus far.

Rumours continue to swirl around a potential move for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe, with club president Gerard Lopez confirming that there has been “discussions with prestigious clubs.”

Meanwhile, new signing Sepp van den Berg, who joined last week, is one of 16 players returning to Melwood this weekend for the start of pre-season.

He'll be joined by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho, James Milner and Joe Gomez amongst others.
