Emeka Obi, the promising 15-year-old defender from Bury, has appeared to confirm his move to Liverpool.

Obi, who became the League One club's youngest-ever player earlier this season, has changed his biographies on social media accounts to read: “Footballer at Liverpool FC”.

The deal between Bury and Liverpool for the teenager is thought to include a six-figure sum, according to The Bury Times, with substantial add-ons and a sell-on fee.

However, the transfer is yet to be confirmed due to visa issues, on account of Obi's Nigerian heritage.

Obi, who has also attracted interest from Stoke City, made his senior debut for Bury aged 15 years and 86 days in the club’s 4-1 Checkatrade Trophy win over Morecambe in August.

David Flitcroft, the Bury manager, has described Obi as “the best talent right now at 15 years old in the entire country".

“He only came in the building two years ago and nothing fazes him,” Flitcroft said following his debut in August. “He’s been training with the first team and he’s going back to school next week.

“He’s just turned 15, he’s a man mountain, but we teach them how to play football and he’s going to be an unbelievable asset to the football club.”
