Leicester City not interested in AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong - reports
The Foxes have already signed Birmingham winger Demarai Gray after they activated a £3.7m release clause
Leicester City are reportedly not interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong - contrary to recent speculation.
Reports in Italy appeared to suggest Claudio Ranieri was keen on giving the experienced Dutchman a route back into English football but, according to the Leicester Mercury, no enquiries have been made.
De Jong, who spent three years with Manchester City between 2009-12, has 80 caps for the Netherlands to his name and was a part of the side who reached the World Cup final in 2010.
The 30-year-old joined Milan four years ago for £3.5m rising to £5m and signed a contract extension last summer to keep him at the San Siro until 2018.
Leicester have already signed winger Demarai Gray after they activated a £3.7m release clause in the 19-year-old’s contract with Championship side Birmingham City.
The England Under-20s star said: “It’s been my dream to play in the Premier League since I started playing football so I’m very happy to join the Club.
"It’s a great Club. The facilities are great and for a player like me it’s an ideal place for me to improve. Meeting all the staff here, it seems like a nice family place, so I think that’s perfect for me.
"You can see how well the team has been doing this year and I watch a lot of football so I can see that the way Leicester City play suits my style.
"I only hear good things about Leicester and I’m looking forward to starting."
