In the aftermath of Chelsea's 2-1 defeat to Leicester, Jose Mourinho indicated he would not look to the transfer market to improve his side's fortunes, but focus on those already at the club.

"I don’t think it is right I go to the club and say 'this player is not good and we need to spent £50m or whatever,' Mourinho said after his club's ninth defeat of the season. "We have these players and it is with these players that we have to go."

But for a club with the wealth of Roman Abramovich at their disposal and in the predicament they are, signings in the January transfer window seem inevitable.

So who might they move for when the window opens on the first day of the new year?

There are certainly many areas of concern. The club have managed to score just 18 goals this season - in contrast Leicester have scored 34. Things aren't much better at the other end either, with a constantly changing roster of defenders conceding 26, a number just six shy of how many they conceded all last term.

Here, we take a look at who the club have been linked with and those that might make an exit from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window...
