Arsenal have reached a deal to sign Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez, according to reports from the BBC, and are also close to reaching an agreement with Valencia for centre-back Shkodran Mustafi.

It's believed the London club have finally agreed to meet Perez's £17.1m buyout clause after initially attempting to pay the fee over two separate instalments.

The Gunners have beaten Everton to the 27-year-old who scored 17 goals in 37 games last season.

Perez will now undergo a medical and discuss personal terms before the move is officially confirmed.

Deportivo announced Perez had been withdrawn from their squad for the trip to face Real Betis in La Liga on Friday night.

The club said in a statement: "The striker Lucas Perez will not fly to Seville, with permission of the club."

Mustafi, on the other hand, looks set to join the club in a deal believed to be worth in excess of £35m.

This follows the announcement made by Valencia that they would in fact be willing to sell the German defender, despite earlier stating that he was "not for sale".

If completed, the transfer will take Arsenal's spending to almost £100m since last season.

Arsenal have already brought in four players this summer including Granit Xhaka, defender Rob Holding, forward Takuma Asano and midfielder Kelechi Nwakali.

Having struggled for the past couple of weeks to assert themselves within the transfer market, Arsenal are now poised to pull off a double swoop which would considerably strengthen their squad.
