Mols believes Rangers title would cap recovery

The Rangers striker Michael Mols says he is keen to win the Scottish Premier League title this season to celebrate resurrecting his playing career.

The Dutchman was a great success upon arriving at Ibrox in June 1999 but just five months later picked up a serious knee injury during a Champions' League game against Bayern Munich.

Rangers went on to win the SPL title under Dick Advocaat, but Mols was forced to watch the celebrations from the sidelines. This season has seen the 32-year-old finally force his way back into the first team on a regular basis under Alex McLeish and he is determined to cap the campaign by bringing the championship trophy back to Ibrox.

"If we win it, it would mean everything to me, especially where I came from," Mols said. "I was the last one in the pecking order and now I'm a starting player, so hopefully we can end up with the silverware."

The title race was blown open on Sunday when Rangers only drew 2-2 with Dundee and the league leaders know any more slip-ups in their final three games could prove costly.

Mols said: "It's going to be three hard games for us, but we know what we have to do – we have to win them – and with a lot of goals.

"It's a hard thing to do, but we must believe in it and we'll see where we are at the end."
