Samuel Eto'o admits he must adapt to the Premier League after slow start at Chelsea

Former Barcelona striker moved to Stamford Bridge on a one-year deal during the summer

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has admitted to being shocked by the physical nature of the Premier League following his slow start at Stamford Bridge.

Having joined in a high-profile move during the summer, the Cameroon international is still to find the back of the net for his new team.

Having been handed three successive starts under Jose Mourinho, in recent matches the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker has found himself relegated to the bench. However, the arrival from Anzhi Makhachkala is confident he can improve given time.

“Already I have noticed that English football is very physical – more physical than other types of football," he told Chelsea Magazine.

“It hasn’t been too much time yet, so I need to continue working to make sure I keep improving my level. Every game here is important and I realise that – I have come here to enjoy playing for Chelsea and to enjoy the football. I go into every game with the same approach.

“It doesn’t matter where you put me, I will play football. My team-mates are helping me a lot and also the coaches, so I feel that I am settling into the team.”

The 32-year-old, who joined on a one-year deal, will next get a chance to impress when the Blues host Cardiff in the Premier League following the international break.
