Raheem Sterling looks set to give Liverpool fans a boost by agreeing a £25m deal with the club by the end of the month, according to reports.
Following the news of Steven Gerrard's departure this week, the Anfield club will at least be buoyed by Sterling's apparent decision to commit his future to the side.
The 20-year-old is understood to be on the verge of signing a £100,000-a-week deal, despite reported interest from sides like Real Madrid.
It is thought that Brendan Rodgers is keen to make Sterling the new talisman in his Liverpool side, and while the England international has two years remaining on his current deal, a bumper contract could help to ward off interest from other clubs.
Sterling has been at Liverpool since 2010, when he signed from QPR aged 15, and has since become an important player for both club and country.
