New Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech wants to play until he is 40 years old.

The 33-year-old Czech international moved to the Gunners from Chelsea for £11m on Monday and says that he will not be thinking about retiring for another seven years.

"I don't want to speak about retirement for another seven years. That’s my target and then I'll see," he said.

“You can have a plan but, sometimes, it doesn’t turn out the way you want.

“This move is one of those things I didn’t expect — but I’m glad it happened.

“In football you never know what’s round the corner and retirement is something I don’t plan. “I’m just looking forward to my new challenge. I’ll just go in, do my work and show I am worthy of a place.

“As a player, it is training, travel, hotel and play.

“This is why one part of me might say after 23 years as a professional I have had enough of this, that I want to do something else.”

Yesterday, Cech hit out at the Chelsea supporters who sent him death threats on social media after he joined the Gunners this week, saying that they "are not true fans".

He was sent death threats and labelled as a snake. One Chelsea fan in Kuwait posted a video of him burning a Chelsea goalkeeper shirt.

Cech has now hit back at those fans, saying: "The true fans have sent me messages that are pleasing and positive. True fans will appreciate what I've done and the legacy I've left."
