Why did they let him go?
Since the start of October, Manchester United have scored 10 goals in all competitions. Javier Hernandez, who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen during the summer, has scored 11 goals, more than the whole of the United squad.
In total, 'Chicharito' has scored 13 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the German side - that is six more than Wayne Rooney has netted for United this term.
After United's goalless draw against West Ham on Saturday, their fifth 0-0 draw in their last nine matches, manager Luis van Gaal promised the "goals will come".
"The most important thing is you dominate, create and you finish. Football is about scoring goals. The first two basic aspects of football we have done," Van Gaal said.

The roving forward would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford but any move would be a major coup.

He would add genuine energy to United’s engine room, but would likely be one for the future with Louis van Gaal's squad currently brimming with central midfielders.

Still only 18, it is possible that he and Anthony Martial could form a partnership which would provide United fans with years of entertainment.

If United were to secure his signing, he could act as an excellent understudy (and potential future replacement) to David de Gea. However, his agent Mino Raiola has already said he is worth £150m.

He has been, alongside Leicester City teammate Jamie Vardy, the Premier League’s stand-out performer this season. The question is whether he could maintain such form consistently and on a bigger stage. The Foxes meanwhile have no interest in selling.

With Isco preferred in a three-man midfield, Rodriguez could decide that he needs to leave the club in order to secure first-team football.

"When you don't finish from a metre in front of an empty goal, you cannot say anything more. You have to finish and that's the only problem we have. We played very well especially in the second half - but you have to finish.
