Manchester United moved up to fifth in the Premier League table by stunning their bitter rivals at the Etihad Stadium.

Defending champions City desperately needed a win to keep their fading hopes of winning the title for a third consecutive season alive, but made a terrible start and conceded early into the match.

Bernardo Silva tripped Marcus Rashford in the box with the England international making no mistake from the penalty spot.

Anthony Martial then doubled United’s lead with a fine goal just a few minutes later.

Nicolás Otamendi did pull one back for City late into the match but it wasn’t enough, with United holding on to win.
