Klopp has Liverpool pressing already

Much was said about Jurgen Klopp’s “gegenpress” style before his first match as Liverpool manager on Saturday, and he is having the desired effect on his Reds squad. Statistics courtesy of EA Sports Player Performance Index show that Liverpool became the first team to outrun Spurs in a Premier League game this season in the goalless draw, running 72.1 miles.

Jamie Vardy is a shoe-in for the golden boot

The Leicester City is not looking like his scorching run of form is going to end any time soon. 10 goals he has scored in his last 10 Premier League games. Jamie Redknapp wrote in his newspaper column this week that Vardy is a serious contender for the golden boot this season, few could argue with that at the moment.

De Bruyne looks money well spent

Many raised an eyebrow at former Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne’s £58m price tag when he moved to Manchester City from Wolfsburg, but the way he is playing he is paying it back every week. He’s contributed four goals and four assists in six games for City in all competitions.

Sissoko is the key for Newcastle

Newcastle manager Steve McClaren was quick to praise Moussa Sissoko after the Magpies 6-2 victory over Norwich and deservedly so – he assisted half of those goals in the match. “Moussa showed what he can do. He wants to be a top-four player, and he will be if he plays like that,” McClaren said.

Rooney is closing in on milestone

Wayne Rooney is closing in on yet another milestone in his career. He is now on 187 Premier League goals, one more goal and he’ll overtake Andy Cole to outright second in the all-time scorers list behind Alan Shearer. Still a bit to go before he surpasses Shearer’s 260 goals, however.
