Chelsea captain John Terry appeared to aim a dig at former manager Rafael Benitez after winning the Premier League.

Terry, who has been excellent this season in leading the Blues to a first title since 2010, has played every minute of every game this season.

But speaking immediately after the win against Crystal Palace that led the Blues to the title, Terry - without naming names - appeared to aim a dig at Rafael Benitez.

When the Spaniard was in charge at Stamford Bridge in 2012-13, Terry played only 14 Premier League games his fewest total since 1999-00.

"To get over the line today was a tough match, we were a little bit nervous but we got over the line and are champions," he told Sky Sports

Terry has played every minute of every Premier League game this season and ranked this league title triumph as being every bit as special as the three others he has won during his time at Stamford Bridge.

"The first time is very special obviously, (but) when you go four or five years without winning it and you see teams (winning the league) and you've grafted all year and you get nothing it really hurts - we're going to enjoy today."

Terry has been this season's stand out defender, earning a nod in the PFA Team of the Year, but a few seasons ago it looked as if his career may have been drawing to a close.

"One person said I couldn't play twice in a week. He knows who he is. I'm still here, still fighting," Terry added.

The ex-England man also broke away from the celebrations to say: "On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we send our condolences to Rio Ferdinand and his family," - referencing the death of Ferdinand's wife, Rebecca.
