At the start of today’s podcast, the team wave goodbye to the first real story of the 2017-18 season: the Tottenham Hotspur crisis. It only lasted for three games, but in the absence of other stories, and because Manchester United have not been as bad as expected, it became one of the themes of the season so far. But what, if anything, was actually wrong at Tottenham? Why were Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld mysteriously dropped last week? And is Harry Kane finally back?

Away from Tottenham, the team move on to Manchester United, and the latest episode in the Paul Pogba v Jose Mourinho soap opera. Was Pogba right to criticise United’s tactics against Wolves? Who is in the wrong here? And does it even matter when both men are ultimately just defending themselves.

Elsewhere in the Barclays, Arsenal win without convincing while Liverpool march one step closer to the title. Ahead of their huge games against Chelsea and Manchester City, the team wonder if this could be Liverpool’s year, and what effect their European campaign might have on that.
