Federici not tempted by Liverpool

Reading goalkeeper flattered by reported interest but wants to stay at the Madejski Stadium

Adam Federici has pledged his immediate future to Reading after reports linked him with a move to Liverpool. The Australian goalkeeper impressed in both FA Cup games against the Premier League side but Federici is adamant his future lies at Madejski Stadium.

"I have worked so hard to be number one, why would I want to go up there, sit on the bench and start over? I'm enjoying my time as number one and I want to keep this up and go on from there," Federici said. "It has been quite interesting reading about myself, but I have had no contact from anyone.

"It's good seeing your name in the paper and it is fantastic to be linked with a team like that, but I am a Reading player and am sure I will be for a long time."

Sheffield United have extended defender Jonathan Fortune's contract until the end of the season. The 29-year-old arrived at Bramall Lane in the summer after being released by Charlton and although he has made only two first-team appearances, Fortune has impressed United sufficiently to be offered another short-term deal.

Manager Kevin Blackwell said: "He's been plagued with injuries, but when we needed him at Barnsley he came in and did a great job. He picked up a severe hamstring injury when we won at Bristol City and although he could do with a little more time I put him on the bench on Saturday because we were short of defensive cover."

Swansea's Albert Serran is expected to be out of action for eight weeks with a hamstring injury. The Spanish defender left the field before the end of Saturday's 1-0 win over Leicester City despite only appearing as a 73rd-minute substitute.

Preston North End defender Neal Trotman looks set to join League One outfit Huddersfield Town on loan for the remainder of the campaign. The Preston manager Darren Ferguson has a number of options at centre-back and is happy for Trotman to head to the Galpharm Stadium. Ferguson said: "They've enquired and he is going to speak to them. I have spoken to the lad, he is happy to go. It is not a done deal yet, but it is progressing that way."

Barnet have reacted strongly to suggestions by Blackpool they asked for "a ridiculous amount of money" for Albert Adomah. The 22-year-old, who has rejected two offers of a new contract at Underhill, is a transfer target for the Championship club.

The Barnet chairman, Tony Kleanthous, who revealed talks between the two clubs broke down just two hours before the summer transfer window closed, said: "We never quoted Blackpool a price. We merely said that we had received a written offer from one of many interested clubs and that they would have to match that. If paying the market rate is a ridiculous sum of money then they should set their sights lower because they only offered half of what we could have achieved elsewhere. There is no need for derogatory remarks."

Meanwhile, The Blackpool defender Alex Baptiste has signed a new contract that will keep him at Bloomfield Road until June 2013. Baptiste was out of contract in the summer and although the Seasiders had a further 12-month option, they were keen to tie him down on a long-term deal.
