Jose Mourinho has told Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti he will return to the San Siro in three years’ time, but Chelsea fans needn’t worry just yet.

Mourinho won a historic treble in 2010 for the Italian club, winning the league, cup and Champions League before moving to Real Madrid and subsequently Chelsea.

And while he could be interested in a return to the San Siro in the future, Mourinho is believed to have been talking about the 2016 Champions League final, which is due to be held at the Milanese stadium.

Moratti said: “I called Mourinho to wish him the best for his return to Chelsea. What did Jose say? He said we’ll meet again at Inter in three years.”

Mourinho signed a four-year-contract to return to Chelsea in the summer and his early indications it that he is hoping for a long and fruitful spell with the club.

That’s not to say his previous stint wasn’t fruitful, having won the Premier League twice, an FA Cup, two League Cups and a Community Shield. However, after crossing paths with owner Roman Abramovich, he left the club by mutual consent in 2007, having been with the Blues since the summer of 2004.

Mourinho has spoken about the importance of bringing through youth players at the club, and he is expected first-team football to youngsters Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne and Marco van Ginkel.

He said upon his return: “I am where I want to be so now it's up to me to work hard to show my club that I deserve to be here for a long time.

“We have a contract of four years, in the first stage I hope we can look to the last day of his contract and if in the end the club is happy and wants me to stay I will be more than happy to do that.

Chelsea meet a Malaysia XI tomorrow before wrapping up their pre-season tour of Asia against BNI Indonesia All-Stars on Thursday.
