Jack Wilshere is in contention to feature for Arsenal this weekend when they play Crystal Palace.

The 23-year-old began full training last week for the first time since suffering serious ankle ligament damage following a challenge from Manchester United defender Paddy McNair during their Premier League clash on November 28.

Wilshere had hoped to be in the squad for last weekend’s FA Cup match against Crystal Palace but despite manager Arsene Wenger insisting the player was ahead of schedule in his recovery, he was reluctant to take the gamble.

However, Wilshere has trained again this week and is, according to the Evening Standard, understood to have declared himself physically ready to feature at Selhurst Park.

Wenger is unlikely to start Wilshere given his lack of match fitness but a place on the substitutes’ bench is possible assuming there are no setbacks in the next 48 hours.

Aaron Ramsey is unavailable as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem while Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain tweeted yesterday that he “cannot wait to get back on the pitch” but he is expected to remain sidelined with a groin problem.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are continuing to investigate travel options for supporters after the BBC opted to move the club’s FA Cup quarter-final at Manchester United to a Monday night. An announcement is expected in the coming days.
