Gordon Strachan’s Scotland face Poland for the first time in 13 years on Wednesday where Darren Fletcher’s long absence from the international stage looks set to end following his recovery from a chronic bowel condition.

The Manchester United midfielder has missed the best part of the last 18 months because of the condition - including the majority of last season’s title-winning campaign. If he is to feature in Warsaw in two days’ time, it will be his first appearance for his country since October 2012 when they succumbed 2-0 to World Cup dark horses Belgium.

Both teams will be eager to familiarise themselves with one another after they were drawn to face each other in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign alongside the Republic of Ireland, Germany, Georgia and newcomers Gibraltar.

KICK-OFF: Wednesday, 7:45pm

PAST THREE MEETINGS…

2001: Poland (Kaluzny) 1-1 Scotland (Booth pen), Bydgoszcz, International Friendly

1990: Scotland 1-1 Poland, International Friendly

Scotland have won three of their previous four meetings, including a mightily impressive victory over Croatia

Scotland to win: 4.2

Draw: 3.3
