Arsenal ticket prices: Bayern Munich fans stage protest against £64 ticket during Champions League tie

A group of Bayern Munich supporters became the latest to stage a protest against high ticket prices at Arsenal by boycotting the first five minutes of the two clubs’ Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

Fans of the Bundesliga champions organised the protest last week after learning that the cheapest ticket available to away supporters for the Group F fixture was priced at £64, rising to at least £74 with fees and postage taken into account.

Instead of taking their seats in the lower section of the Emirates’ away end at kick-off, many fans stayed in the stadium’s gangways.

In their place, a handful of supporters held up banners which read “£64 a ticket, but without fans football is nothing”.

The fans retuned after the first five minutes had elapsed and were greeted by the home supporters with an ovation.

Last week, the BBC’s annual ‘Price of Football’ study revealed that Arsenal had the highest priced matchday (£97) and season tickets (£2,013) in the Premier League.

By contrast, Bayern offer a season ticket at a price of just £104.
