Comedian Paddy McGuinness cleaned the boots of Emile Heskey today after making a pledge on Twitter that he would do so if the striker scored on his first appearance upon returning to Bolton.

Heskey returned to his former club after a stint with Australian side Newcastle Jets. Few gave the former England striker, now 36, much of a chance of making an impact back at the Championship club, with Bolton fan McGuinness among those seemingly doubting his ability.

It led the Take Me Out presenter to pledge on Twitter: "If @EmileHeskeyUK comes off the bench today and scores for us I'll personally clean his boots! C'mon Bolton!!!!"

As it turned out, Heskey did just that by converting a cross from another recently returned veteran Eidur Gudjohnsen, during the 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day.

McGuinness today came good on his pledge with a visit to Bolton's training ground. The comedian insisted the tweet hadn't been a "negative thing" and even made a further vow: "If you score every week I will do your full washing, even your underpants!"

Bolton's next match is against Wigan Athletic tomorrow in the FA Cup.
