Defeat sends Royals to Wolves for play-off clash

Stoke City's victory yesterday had repercussions at the other end of the table, as defeat for Reading meant they were paired with Wolves in the play-off semi-finals.

Wolves drew 1-1 with Leicester and finished fifth after Kenny Miller hit his 23rd league goal of the season. Trevor Benjamin equalised from the penalty spot after Ludovic Pollet's handball.

Nottingham Forest, hoping for a quiet weekend ahead of the play-offs, instead slugged to a 2-2 draw with Rotherham. The Yorkshiremen led through Alan Lee in the 55th minute only for Jack Lester to level for Forest 11 minutes later.

Craig Westcarr then put the visitors in front but an overhead kick from Mark Robins brought Rotherham level. Forest will face third-placed Sheffield United, who lost 2-0 at Watford.

George Burley's reunion with Ipswich did not go the way of the Scotsman as his Derby side lost 4-1.

Portsmouth, First Division champions, said goodbye to the Football League with a 5-0 win at Bradford. Given the lead by Gianluca Festa in the 20th minute, Svetoslav Todorov added two more in the first five minutes of the second half. The Bulgarian got his hat-trick in the 57th minute with a penalty and Steve Stone's effort after 67 minutes completed the rout.
