Liverpool's under-23 side saw off League One Shrewsbury Town to book a place in the FA Cup fifth round.

While the senior team and manager Jurgen Klopp enjoyed their winter break, the youngsters took to the Anfield stage and impressed with a confident display under the charge of U23 manager Neil Critchley.

Their 19-year-old captain Curtis Jones was the pick of the bunch, roaming around the pitch with confidence flowing, producing a raft of tricks and skills to entertain the home crowd.

Liverpool didn't make their first-half dominance count, and thought they'd fallen behind on the hour when Shrews' Shaun Whalley pounced on a rebound only to be denied by VAR, which spotted a tight offside.
