Tottenham have made just one change to the side that ran out against Stoke last weekend.

Erik Lamela makes his return to the starting XI as Victor Wanyama drops to the bench.

Mousa Dembele starts on the bench after serving a six-match ban that was handed to the player at the start of the 2015/16 season for violent conduct against Chelsea's Diego Costa.

Danny Rose is absent from tonight's match-day squad as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

The visitors have made three changes to the side that beat Lille 4-1 on Saturday.

Danijel Subais, Joao Moutinho, Radamel Falcao all come into the side as Morgan De Sanctis, Adam Traore and Valere Germain drop to the bench.

Spurs are making their first return to the Champions League after a five-year absence from Europe's elite competition.

The club progressed to the quarter-finals under Harry Redknap during the 2010/11 campaign where they were knocked out by Real Madrid.

Tottenham have made considerable progress under Mauricio Pochettino, however, and will hope to recreate the success of Redknap's side five years ago.

Spurs will be hoping to finish top of group D which includes AS Monaco, CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen.

Tottenham (4-2-3-1) Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Alli; Lamela, Eriksen, Son; Kane

Monaco (4-2-3-1) Subasic; Raggi, Glik, Jemerson, Sidibe; Fabinho, Bakayoko; Dirar (Lemar, 5), Moutinho, Silva; Falcao
