Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has promised to make Cristiano Ronaldo the best-paid player in the world to try to keep him at the club.

Ronaldo has a contract until 2015 and is believed to earn around £8million a year after tax but Manchester United and PSG have been linked with signing him.

Perez, who hinted Madrid retain their interest in Gareth Bale, said: "He told me in the summer he was sad and I told him we would do everything possible for him to be content. I don't know if he has an offer from PSG. We want to build the Madrid of the future around him and I would like Cristiano to be the best-paid player in the world."
