Milan's metro service has been evacuated after a suspicious package was found in one of the city's train stations ahead of the Champions League final.

Italian media reports two lines on the metro service was halted for an hour on Saturday morning after security cameras filmed a woman leaving parcels on the stairs of the Piazza Cadorna metro station.

The M1 line – which is one of the routes which will transport fans to the stadium – was interrupted between the stations of Cairoli and Pagano and the M2 line was suspended between Garibaldi and Porta Genova.

Fans are likely to travel through Cadorna to get to the stadium.

Milan police evacuated the busy station but found the packages contained baby gifts.

The central Italian city is set to play host to the match between the rival teams at San Siro stadium on Saturday evening.
