Gareth Bale: Real Madrid man reveals he misses chocolate and PG Tips in Spain

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has revealed what he most misses about life in Spain - chocolate and a good cup of tea.

The Welshman, the world's most expensive footballer, as recealed that he has no immediate plans to return to the Premier League, although he hasn't ruled out a return in the future. Bale also believes that it's harder in the Premier League than Spain's La Liga, as teams battle for 90 minutes each week and they have a six-day Christmas break.

Bale, who was poor in the 4-0 El Clasico defeat to Barcelona on Saturday evening, revealed whenever he comes to the UK he returns to Spain "with bags" of chocolate.

Asked what he craves most, Bale replied: "Chocolate.

"Every time I come home, I go back with bags of the stuff. Galaxy, Dairy Milk – anything. I also miss PG Tips tea bags."

The Welshman also revealed he is building a three-hole golf course at his South Wales home, modelled on the Postage Stamp at Troon, the Amen Corner 11th at Augusta and the 17th at Sawgrass.

"I try to play as much golf as possible,” added Bale. “In fact, I’m obsessed with it. I’ve not really thought about what I’ll be doing in 20 years when I’m retired from football, but, hopefully, I will be playing golf.”

Bale added: "Home is always Wales. Always. But I’m feeling more and more comfortable in Madrid.

"I know British players previously have struggled to adapt to life in another country, but I feel like I’ve grown up since I came over.

"I took myself out of my comfort zone and, yes, I do think it has improved me as a player, because I have learned a completely different style of football."

He contined: "Chelsea won the Champions League three years ago – but remember Real Madrid went 12 years without winning one.

"My view is English teams are still up there with the best and are playing in the world’s most competitive league. In Spain, if we play a so-called lesser team, we can be 4-0 up at half-time and then can ease off.

"In La Liga, I don’t think bottom could ever beat top, but that happens in England. I’d say the Premier League is stronger all the way down, but the top teams in Spain are probably better."

Bale has failed to hit the heights of his final season at Tottenham, where he was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year, PFA Young Player of the Year and FWA Player of the Year after scoring 26 goals for the north London club.

That moved prompted Real Madrid to splash out around £85million for him. Although he helped the club win the Champions League and Copa del Rey in his first season, he has constantly been linked with a move away from the club after sub-par performances.

But Bale said he is happy to stay at the Bernabeu.

"My plan when I first started playing football was to try to reach the pinnacle -- and Real Madrid is the pinnacle," he said in an interview with several national newspapers.

"Now I'm here, I want to win trophies and to win titles, and just do the best I can for my career. I will never say never when it comes to going back to the Premier League, because you don't know what the future holds.

"But I am enjoying my time here. I am very happy.
