Wolfsburg's Italian defender Andrea Barzagli has risked an international incident after claiming the Bundesliga is 'more spectacular' than Serie A.

The Azzurri international joined Wolfsburg after Euro 2008 and believes the German top-flight is a more exciting league than the one he left.

Barzagli spent five seasons in Serie A with Chievo and Palermo before moving on in a £2.5m deal in July.

"The style of play is more spectacular here than it is in Italy," he claimed.

"There's more goals than in the Serie A for starters. There is rarely a match there which ends 5-4 or 4-2.

"Italian football is very tactical. The small teams almost always just set out to defende, rather than launch any attacks themselves.

"The standard of play in Germany has definitely improved.”

Meanwhile, reigning champions Internazionale expect Nicolas Burdisso to be available for Sunday's Serie A trip to Roma despite suffering a head injury while on international duty.

The Argentina defender was stretchered off during Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Chile after clashing heads with opposition striker Mark Gonzalez.

However, Inter medical staff have been in touch with Burdisso in South America and believe he will be available to resume club action at the weekend.

"I spoke to Nicolas on the phone and he told me about the knock he received to his head," revealed club doctor Franco Combi.

"However, he was fine by the end of the game and he was able to rejoin the team afterwards. He is okay and there is nothing to be worried about.

"Burdisso has a mild headache, but that's all and he will return to Italy as normal on Friday."
