Jurgen Klopp hits out at claims Liverpool should accept Champions League exit

Liverpool’s hopes of going one better in the Champions League this season are still alive thanks to a 3-1 victory over Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich that sends them into the last eight.

After a goalless first leg at Anfield, Sadio Mane finally broke the deadlock with a sublime opening goal. Picking Virgil van Dijk’s ball over the top out of the air, he sold Manuel Neuer a dummy before dinking the ball into the net.

The goal put Liverpool in control but Bayern were quick to hit back, with defender Joel Matip inadvertently turning Serge Gnabry’s cross into his own net.

Bayern piled on the pressure in the second-half but it was Van Dijk who effectively settled the tie, when he powerfully headed home James Milner’s corner.

And with time running out, Mane added insult to injury by making it three. The only sour note for Liverpool was Andy Robertson's late yellow card, which rules him out of the first leg of Liverpool's quarter-final. Here are our player ratings.

Take a look at the gallery above to see how we have rated players from both teams.
