Football: Bologna to test terror trio
ITALIAN LEAGUE
INTERNAZIONALE, WHO play Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the European Cup in March, face a tricky trip to Bologna in tomorrow's live game on Channel 4. Inter, plagued by injuries early in the season are fifth in Serie A, but travel to Bologna on a high after giving Venezia a 6-2 larruping last week.
Inter, adopting the 3-4-3 formation which Parma, top of the table after hammering Piacenza 6-3 last week, and Milan have used to good effect this term, ripped their rivals apart.
Ivan "Bam Bam" Zamorano, their tireless veteran Chilean striker, scored a hat-trick Ronaldo notched two and Roberto Baggio added the other. The terror trio link up again, but will find Bologna tougher. Bologna, eighth in Serie A, have conceded only 13 goals in 16 games - only Parma (12) have a better record.
Moreover, Bologna staged the surprise of the week by defeating Juventus 2-1 in the Italian Cup quarter-final first leg in Turin on Wednesday.
Inter have scored 23 goals in eight games at home, but their record on the road (only nine goals in eight games) suggests it will be close.
Inter should be close to full strength while, for Bologna, the defender Massimo Paganin is suspended but Giuseppe Signori , their leading scorer with eight goals, returns to action.
Other games tomorrow: Bari v Sampdoria; Fiorentina v Cagliari; Milan v Perugia; Roma v Vicenza; Salernitana v Piacenza; Udinese v Empoli; Venezia v Juventus. Tomorrow night: Lazio v Parma.
