Adam Hollioake is back in training with Surrey but will not play in their County Championship First Division game against Kent. The Surrey captain has not played this season following his brother Ben's death in a car accident in March. Hollioake has been in Australia, where his wife gave birth to their daughter, Bennaya, two weeks ago, but has returned to the Oval.

Surrey have been hit by England call-ups, with Alec Stewart, Graham Thorpe, Alex Tudor and Mark Butcher in the squad for the third Test, while Kent may bring in their off-spinner James Tredwell for the pace bowler Ben Trott.

Leicestershire's captain, Vince Wells, will lead his side out in their First Division match against Warwickshire despite a shoulder injury. Wells was left out of the side for Sunday's abandoned Norwich Union League game with Worcestershire, but the injury has healed sufficiently. Warwickshire will be without the off-spinner Ashley Giles if he is named to face Sri Lanka while pace bowler Alan Richardson is rated doubtful because of a knee injury.
