NEW ZEALAND'S opening batsman, Matthew Bell, was yesterday named as part of the Kiwis' squad for the four-Test series in England after the World Cup. Bell, who has been out of the side since March with a viral infection, is one of four players called up for the series, while three of the World Cup squad will return home.

Bell will probably partner Matthew Horne to open the innings, with Nathan Astle dropping down the order. Gavin Larsen, Matthew Hart and Carl Bulfin have been released.

NEW ZEALAND SQUAD (for Test series v England): S P Fleming (capt), G I Allott, N J Astle, M D Bell, C L Cairns, M G Croy, S B Doull, C Z Harris, M J Horne, C D McMillan, D J Nash, S B O'Connor, A C Parore, R G Twose, D L Vettori, B Walker.
