Peter Moores, the new Sussex captain, yesterday refused to take further steps to persuade Ian Salisbury to stay with the club. Sussex have offered the leg-spinner a five-year contract with the promise of a benefit but Salisbury is said to be considering offers from Northamptonshire and Surrey.

Kenya have cancelled a three-week tour to Australia in December and January because of a lack of funds.
