The English quintet of Ross Brewer, Craig Heap, Andrew Atherton, Lee McDermott and John Smethurst won the team gymnastics gold medal yesterday as the Australians squandered their lead with seven falls during their final programme. Performing consistently throughout the competition in the Putra stadium, the English team totalled 162.275 points, narrowly edging out the Australians with Canada taking bronze. The Trinidadian sprint star Ato Boldon will arrive at the Commonwealth Games today, according to their team manager Ken Doldron. After the withdrawal of Frankie Fredericks, Boldon will be the star attraction in the 100m. "I urge everyone not to worry," said Doldron. "He will be here to win the 100m gold with a new world record."
