US drug officers die in air crash
(First Edition)
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Five Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents were killed when their twin-engined aircraft crashed in the Alto Huallaga, 350 miles north of the Peruvian capital, Lima on Saturday.
A DEA spokesman said the crews of agency and Peruvian military aircraft had found what they believed to be the plane, which was carrying agents assigned to Operation Snowcap to help Peru and Bolivia fight its cocaine traffic, but dense jungle was hampering rescue workers.
