Hizbollah leaves Lebanon base
BAALBEK (Reuter) - Pro-Iranian Hizbollah (Party of God) militants began peacefully evacuating their largest base in Lebanon yesterday before handing it over to the Lebanese army.
Trucks loaded with furniture and belongings left the Sheikh Abdullah barracks in the town of Baalbek, 70km (44 miles) east of Beirut, in Lebanon's Syrian-policed Bekaa Valley.
Last Friday the army began seizing government buildings taken by militias during 15 years of civil war.
