Iranian city tense
The city of Qazvin remained tense yesterday more than a week after serious riots broke out after the government refused to grant it special status. There were also reports that some rioters had been sent to Evin prison in Tehran and several hanged in Qazvin's main prison, writes Safa Haeri.
Thousands of Basijis, young illiterate volunteers, were reported to be roaming Qazvin, arresting people suspected of involvement in demonstrations.
