Jerusalem - The US is to supply Israel with Blackhawk and Apache helicopters, according to the White House, writes Sarah Helm.

The move follows the US decision to sell 72 F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, and is intended to show that the US wishes to maintain its commitment to preserving Israel's military superiority in the Middle East. The agreement will also mean the stockpiling of US forces' equipment in Israel.
