France curbs asylum rights
France's two houses of parliament yesterday approved an amendment to the constitution to limit political asylum before border controls among nine European Union countries are abolished next year, Reuter reports from Versailles.
The amendment allows the government to refuse to examine a request for asylum turned down by a fellow EU country.
