China opens nuclear plant
The Prime Minister, Li Peng, opened China's first big nuclear power station yesterday, deaf to protests in Hong Kong, 20 miles away, where, despite official denials, fears persist of a Chernobyl-style disaster, Reuter reports from Hong Kong. Mr Li inaugurated the first of two reactors at the French-designed Daya Bay plant a year behind schedule.
