The controversial mayor of Toronto Rob Ford is back in the spotlight after footage emerged of him dancing during a council session.

The video from the session on Tuesday shows Ford getting his groove on in the council chamber as a local jazz trio played for the councillors. Some of the other members of the city council took their lead from Ford although the majority opted to just clap along.

The mayor can be seen dancing away to Bob Marley's "One Love" and another festive number. He even dances with another councillor as one of the musicians plays beside them.

Ford has been grabbing headlines this year after admitting to smoking crack cocaine and being stripped of most of his powers. A video also came out showing Ford knocking over a fellow councillor as he ran to confront a heckler.

Despite all the scandal his approval ratings have been high, a poll last month from the Forum Research showed that 42 per cent of people approve of Ford's work as mayor. Around 1,049 people took part in the survey and the results suggest that Ford could still be viable candidate for next year's election in which he is still running.
