University of Miami student spends two days in prison after cocaine prank

A student prank led to two days behind bars for a joker who poured powdered sugar onto his kitchen counter and cut it into cocaine style lines.

Jonathan Harrington told CBS Miami that he left the powdered sugar in plain sight thinking it would be obvious that he was playing a joke during a routine inspection of his student digs.

But officials at the University of Miami were far from amused and called in the police, who arrested him.

"I was like 'Hey I guess you're here about this powdered sugar prank' and they told me, 'Nobody's laughing,'" Harrington told CBS Miami.

When a police cocaine field tested positive for the drug Harrington was tossed in jail and charged with possession of the Class A drug.

But after the crime lab found that the “coke” was really sugar, the charges were dropped.

"I guess I have more time than sense,” said Harrington when asked why he pulled the prank. “My older brother says I was poking the bear which is true."

The Coral Gables Police Department would not comment on the now-dropped case, or the false results to the TV station.
