Luxor hot air balloon disaster: Survivor pays tribute to his wife

The British survivor of the Luxor hot-air balloon disaster has paid tribute to his wife, describing her as "my rock, my friend, my shoulder to cry on".

Michael, 49, was one of just two survivors of the accident that killed 19 people, including his wife, Yvonne, on Tuesday.

There were also tributes paid by Maureen Bampton to her son Joe, 40, and his partner, Zsi Gyetvai, 34, who lived in London.

Mr Rennie, of Perth, Scotland, who is thought to have survived by leaping from the basket, said Yvonne was "my world". He added: "My heartfelt condolences go out to the other families that have lost relatives around the world in this terrible disaster."

Mrs Bampton said of her son and his partner: "My son and Zsi… lived life to the full and enjoyed being in Clapham Common with their dog Ollie."

She said the couple, who were both artists, met at an auctioneers in Chelsea, where Joe worked as a valuer and cataloguer. He was a graduate from the Slade School of Art in London and Zsi graduated from Kingston College of Art.
