A GANG of Asian men snatched a woman from the street, imprisoned her overnight and sexually assaulted her.

The 28-year-old woman from Goole in Humberside was bundled into a 'tatty' blue four-door car while walking in Lime Tree Street in the town centre at 11.30pm on Monday.

She does not know where she was held during the 18 hours of her ordeal. A taxi driver found her wandering the streets of Bradford, West Yorkshire, at 5pm the following day and took her to the city's Royal Infirmary, where she was treated for cuts and bruises and shock.

Police are appealing for the 'good Samaritan' taxi driver to come forward, and for witnesses who saw four Asian men and a white woman in a blue car on Monday or Tuesday.

The woman returned home yesterday after being questioned by police.

The attack occurred on the same day as the 'carjacking' of a Cardiff woman who was kidnapped at traffic lights in the city, and held at knifepoint for six hours, by a man who sexually assaulted her twice.

The woman, a 33-year-old hairdresser, was driving to work in the morning rush hour when the man got into her car. Holding a knife to her throat, he told her to drive to the M4. He later made her pull over at a picnic spot, where he sexually assaulted her. He did so again near Mold in Clwyd, before fleeing the car outside the village of Rhyd-y-mwyn.

Yesterday police were questioning motorists in the Rhiwbina suburb of Cardiff where the man struck in an attempt to identify the attacker.

He is described as a white man aged between 30 and 40, of average build, with scruffy dark hair. He was wearing a green anorak, orange or pink T- shirt, blue jeans and grey trainers.

Police are advising women drivers to lock the passenger doors of their cars as a precaution.
