Karamjit Singh Chahal, 43, a Sikh independence campaigner fighting deportation, won an appeal against his conviction for offences arising out of disturbances five years ago at an east London temple. The judgment is likely to help his legal action on the Home Office's failure to decide on his political asylum claim.
