'Rocket hooligans' killed fan

A FOOTBALL fan struck by a marine distress rocket at a World Cup qualifying match was killed by the 'ultimate act of football hooliganism', a court was told yesterday.

John Hill, 67, was killed outright at Cardiff Arms Park when the rocket hit him in the chest. It had been launched from the opposite site of the stadium and, aimed horizontally, was 'virtually certain to cause serious injuries', said Patrick Harrington QC, for the prosecution, at Cardiff Crown Court.

Kerry Still, 35, and his brother Andrew McAllister, 31, of Wrexham, Clwyd, deny murdering Mr Hill, a retired postman, at the Wales v Romania game last November.

The trial continues today.
